Computer Science Teaching Minor

Return to: Programs
The Computer Science Teaching minor focuses on (a) CS skills necessary to teach courses that are licensed in Indiana by the Computer Science license, (b) methods in CS teaching. CS skills that are developed include imperative programming, object-oriented programming, information technology software and hardware, and the fundamentals of computing. CS teaching students apply these skills to teaching scenarios for courses that are taught by K-12 Computer Educators in Indiana.
Note: This minor, in conjunction with (a) a separate education major that grants a teaching license and (b) the appropriate state licensure test score, qualifies the student for a computer science teaching license. The minor without a teaching license does not satisfy requirements for teaching computing courses in the state.
