Required Courses

  • All students must pass each AVT/UMS course used in their major with a C grade or higher.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to pursue a Minor field of study, especially in areas where unmanned systems may play a large role in the future.   By learning and understanding a field of expertise, students will be able to effectively apply the technology to a business area.  Suggested minors include Aviation Technology, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Geographic Information Science, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Communication, and Business Administration.  Other ISU minors are available as well as the opportunity to obtain a double major.

  • TSA has issued Title 49 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations Part 1552 that prohibits the university from providing flight training in an aircraft or aircraft simulator to non-US Citizens without TSA approval.   Prior to performing any flight training at the Academy or simulator training in ISU simulators, a copy of the student’s valid birth certificate & Government State issued ID or a passport must be on file in the Aviation Department within two weeks of beginning the program.  In addition, non-US citizens must receive TSA approval.  See the Aviation Department TSA representative for information concerning these requirements.
