The English minor fosters skills in critical analysis, independent thinking, creativity, research, and writing through a focus on both literature and creative writing. The program is designed to lay a foundation for a wide range of careers in which clear communication and thinking, as well as research skills, are needed.  

Required Courses (15 credits):

Electives (9 credits):

All electives must be approved by an advisor in the department.

  • 3 credits in American literature at the junior-senior level
  • 3 credits in English literature before 1800 at the junior-senior level
  • 3 credits in English literature since 1800 at the junior-senior level

Foundational Studies Requirements (3 credits):

English liberal arts minors must take the following:

The Economics Minor is not available to students who have declared the Economics Major.
