Theater Learning Outcomes

Outcome 1: Proficiency in Written and Oral Communications |
1.1 Communication: Students will develop effective approaches to theater through written and oral communications.
Foundational Studies 10: Express themselves effectively, professionally, and persuasively both orally and in writing.

Outcome 2: Critical Thinking and Creative Problem-Solving |
2.1 Critical thinking and problem-solving: Students will develop and apply critical thinking and imaginative problem–solving skills.
Foundational Studies 2: Critically evaluate the ideas of others.

2.2 Collaborative problem solving: Students will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and independently to solve problems in production situations. |
Outcome 3: Apply Knowledge and Practical Abilities |
3.1 Knowledge application: Students will demonstrate knowledge and skills in a given discipline of theater (i.e. Acting, Playwriting/Dramaturgy/Directing, Design/Technology). |
3.2 Leadership skills: Students will demonstrate leadership skills which include upholding standards and taking initiative. |
Outcome 4: Intellectual and Cultural Contexts |
4.1 Contextual understanding: Students will demonstrate an understanding of theater within the grand narrative (i.e., global, historical, cultural, ethical, political, psychological, and economical contexts). |
4.2 Engaged participation: Students will demonstrate the ability to analyze and respond critically to the production elements of a produced play. |
