Environmental Geoscience Learning Outcomes

Outcome 1: Students will demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. |
1.1 Demonstrate writing and speaking skills necessary to translate scientific information to the public. |
1.2 Write laboratory reports and summaries to develop technical writing skills. |
Outcome 2: Collect, evaluate, manipulate, and present scientific data. |
2.1 Accurately collect and synthesize field and laboratory observations or data. |
2.2 Assess data quality, recognize sources of data error and bias, and demonstrate basic proficiency with computer programs used to organize, manipulate, analyze, and present data. |
2.3 Demonstrate working knowledge of basic statistics and appropriate graphing techniques. |
Outcome 3: Recognize, describe, and explain short- and long-term environmental issues and risks faced by humans and induced by human activities. |
