International Studies Minor

(24 semester hours)
The minor consists of 24 semester hours, including 15 hours of core courses. A student must also take 6 hours of approved 300/400 level electives, distributed among at least two departments, with a regional or thematic focus. Currently approved elective courses are listed below; a complete course listing is available from the program director. In addition, students must complete a substantial research paper in international studies or participate in an approved study abroad program. Successfulcompletion of the minor entails careful planning. Students are advised to design their programs of study in consultation with the International Studies Program advisor. Students are strongly advised to take a minimum of two years of foreign language study in coordination with the course work required for the minor.

or - A 300-400 level foreign language course
or Required Electives (9 hours):
A minimum of 6 hrs. at the 300-400 level with an area or comparative/thematic focus. Approved focus areas and courses appear below. Culminating Research Paper or Study Abroad:
A paper completed in a 400-level course approved for the minor with the consent of the instructor and the program advisor or an approved study abroad experience. C.
