Required:

• ENG 230 - Literary Analysis 3 credits
• ENG 236 - World Literature and Culture I 3 credits
• ENG 237 - World Literature and Culture II 3 credits
• ENG 240 - American Literature Survey 3 credits
• ENG 250 - British Literature Survey 3 credits
• ENG 460 - Shakespeare 3 credits

Electives:

• 21 hours, including specifically 3 hours in American literature at the junior-senior level,
• 3 hours in English literature before 1800 at the junior-senior level,
• 3 hours in English literature since 1800 at the junior-senior level,
• 3 hours in English language, and
• 3 hours in multicultural, African American, folk, women’s, or popular literature

Foreign Language Recommendation:

English majors considering graduate work in English should take substantial work in at least one foreign language. French, German, and/or Latin are recommended.

General Education Requirements:

English liberal arts majors must take English 108 and 308 as General Education writing courses.
