SOWK 270 - Ethno-Cultural Issues


3 credits

Description
This course examines, from a theoretical and experiential social work perspective, the personal behaviors and institutional factors that have led to oppression of ethnic minorities and persons of color and that serve to maintain intergroup tensions. Attention is given to discriminatory practices as related to sex, age, religion, disablement, sexual orientation, and culture. It explores the strategies that the various groups have employed to deal with discrimination. Implications to the individual, society, and the profession are explored.
