Virtually all law schools require their applicants to have an undergraduate college or university degree. Although they do not prescribe a particular curriculum or particular courses, they do recommend broad and thorough intellectual preparation in the liberal arts. The Department of Political Science, therefore, provides a flexible, interdisciplinary major, which can be tailored to fit the needs of individual students in consultation with the legal studies advisor.
Courses in the areas of African and African American studies, business, communication, criminology and criminal justice, cconomics, English, history, international studies, journalism, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and gender studies complement the legal studies curriculum. These areas are also ideal as second majors and/or as minors.
