Experiential Learning
The Department of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport faculty are dedicated to providing quality experiential learning opportunities through course design, internships, and service learning projects.
Kinesiology-Exercise Science: Students complete a culminating internship experience immersing them in highly professional and challenging environments with exposure to a broad range of organizational and clinical skills. As a result, students will be prepared to meet the challenges of fast-paced, high-tech health and fitness careers as well as being prepared for graduate programs in Athletic Training, Physician Assistant Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and other advanced professional or graduate programs.
Sport Management: Students complete a semester-long internship working closely with a professional supervisor and other staff to develop a range of skills from program and organizational design; to marketing and facilities management; and to working with a variety of customers/clients to meet their service needs. Completing a quality internship in one of the select areas of the RCSM field provides a critical bridge from student to working professional.
Departmental Opportunities
Active student groups with close ties to professional organizations in their field are sponsored by the department and available to students. Scholarships are also available for majors. See the Department Chairperson or an academic advisor for information.
