MUS 300 - The History of Rock 3 Credits
Description The purpose of this course is to deepen the student’s awareness and understanding of the different ways human experience is reflected in popular musical arts and will emphasize the development of skills necessary to understand western popular music in a meaningful way. This will be accomplished through the study and evaluation of: basic music terminology, standard forms used within western popular music, stylistic elements that characterize musical periods and their artists; relationships between music and society; effective listening techniques; and prominent artists and selected works.
Prerequisites Student must have completed a minimum of 45 credits of university course work; successful completion of or concurrent enrollment in junior composition.
Restrictions Upper Division Electives require 45 earned credit hours or more at time of registration.
