MUS 558 - Survey of Opera

The development of operatic forms, styles, and conventions from Monteverdi to the present. Besides a wide variety of selections from individual operas, several representative works will be studied in their entirety.

Prerequisites
satisfactory score on the Graduate Placement Examination in Music History and Literature or successful completion of 602.
