CHEM 105 - General Chemistry I 3 hours

Description Topics include atomic structure, physical properties of gases, nomenclature, molecular bonding and geometry, mass relationships in chemical equations, and thermochemistry. Because the course assumes adequate knowledge of algebra, the following is strongly recommended: prior completion or current enrollment in Mathematics 111 or higher, or a mathematics SAT score of 510 or higher, or an ACT score of at least 21.
Prerequisite/Corequisite Co-requisite: concurrent enrollment in 105L, or consent of instructor or chairperson.
Note Unless otherwise stated, all chemistry courses require laboratory work.

Note Open to graduate students. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. Unless otherwise stated, all chemistry courses require laboratory work.

CIMT 302 - Teaching II 3 hours.
Description General methods of teaching. Emphasis on skill development in basic teaching and content area literacy strategies. Includes integration of national and state standards into planning to teach diverse learners, interdisciplinary curriculum and instruction, cooperative and individualized instruction, integration of instructional technology, performance assessment, and management of the learning environment. Instructional and interpersonal consequences of decisions by both the teacher and the student will be discussed. Field experiences integrated with pedagogical knowledge of teaching.
Prerequisite/Corequisite Prerequisites: admission to BCP I and Educational Psychology 202.

CIMT 475 - Critical Thinking in Teaching 3 hours.
Description This General Education Capstone Course (GECC) focuses in part on ways in which information and methods of analysis and evaluation associated with liberal studies disciplines can assist future teachers in developing their own perspectives on current important issues in education. The course also introduces means by which these methods of analysis and evaluation can be incorporated into instructional approaches for promoting critical thinking among secondary and adult students.
Prerequisite/Corequisite Prerequisite: at least 78 credit hours and seven of nine required Liberal Studies courses.
