This program is designed for students who wish to transition into teaching from other careers. Students who have completed an appropriate baccalaureate degree with a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or a grade point average of 2.5 with five years experience in an educational field may be eligible for the Indiana Initial Practitioner Generalist: Elementary License by completing the program outlined below. The program is cohort-based and courses are taken in a defined sequence beginning with an intensive seminar, extending over an academic year, and concluding with a capstone course the following summer. An additional fee for supervision and administrative costs will be assessed upon admission to the program.
Admission Requirements
- Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with an earned grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or:
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with an earned grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale with a minimum of five years of teaching related experience.
- Candidates must pass the PRAXIS I at the cut off scores established by the State of Indiana.
