(33 semester hours minimum)
The Master of Education Degree—Curriculum and Instruction is designed for those individuals who wish to develop leadership skills in instruction and curriculum planning in educational settings such as schools, community/technical colleges, business and industry, health services, and other social agencies. Students who complete this degree may also qualify for the Indiana Professional Teaching License if they (1) hold the Standard License in secondary education, junior high/middle school education, all grade education, or senior high-junior high/middle school education; (2) have completed five years of teaching experience in accredited schools; and (3) complete the prescribed courses to professionalize the major/minor.
Note: Students not seeking professional teacher licensure shall be considered for admission if they hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all courses taken at the graduate level in all schools attended, and have a minimum of 12 semester hours in the behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, political science, and anthropology) at the undergraduate level. The graduate faculty of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology will determine any deficiencies based upon candidate’s prior experience, educational background, and professional goals.
