Psychology (General) M.A. (Thesis) or M.S. (Non-thesis)

Research (7 credits)

• PSY 602 - Psychological Research 3 Credits
• PSY 604 - Advanced Statistics 3 Credits
• PSY 620 - Advanced Graduate Seminar 1 Credits Note: A student is expected to engage actively in empirical research from the time of first enrollment, although initial investigations might not be work originating with the student.

Major (19-22 credits)

A minimum of 19 credits must be taken within the department, with the option to take 6 credits of coursework outside the department.

Candidates for the M.A. degree will take 6 credits from the required course list below, in addition to 

• At least 6 credits (two courses) must be earned from among the following courses: Credits / Units: 6

• PSY 603 - Proseminar: Learning and Cognition 3 Credits Note: If the student is deficient in learning or cognition, PSY 603 becomes required.
• PSY 607 - Proseminar: Social Bases of Individual Behavior 3 Credits
• PSY 608 - Biological Bases of Emotions and Cognitive Processes 3 Credits
• PSY 566 - Advanced Lifespan Developmental Psychology 3 Credits
• EPSY 621 - Development Through the Lifespan 3 Credits

Note: Candidates for the Psy.D. program complete and document portfolios that demonstrate basic research and practice competencies established by the department.

Note:

Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level.
