Business Administration MBA

(30-36 credits)

To qualify for the awarding of a Master of Business Administration degree, the candidate must meet the following requirements in addition to any requirements of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies and Indiana State University:

  1. Complete all degree program requirements
  2. Complete all course work in the degree program with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  3. Have a grade of C or lower in no more than two courses in his/her degree program
  4. Successfully perform on a set of comprehensive exit exercises.

Program Mission:

Ingrained in current industry trends and best practices, the program integrates theory and practice to develop future leaders with skills in problem solving, strategic thinking, and the management of organizational change.

MBA Program Learning Goals:

Individuals who pursue the MBA program at Indiana State University will demonstrate:

  1. The ability to use business problem solving techniques.
  2. The ability to apply business knowledge consistent with contemporary best practices.
  3. The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  4. An advanced understanding of global business practices.

Curricula:

The MBA Program includes an eight-course core curriculum plus a two-course General Option (30 credit hours total) or a three-course Concentration Option (33 credit hours total).

International Requirement:


The core curriculum incorporates the learning of other cultures and values, the global nature of business, and the importance of understanding global trends. Additional opportunities for students exist to broaden their global experience:

  • specific international business course(s)
  • study abroad opportunities
  • faculty-supervised research paper
  • international business internship or work done as part of a graduate assistantship

Choose from one of the following options:


General Option (6 credits)


In addition to the required eight MBA core courses, students take six credits of graduate-level elective courses as approved by the MBA director.

Or


Concentration Option (9-12 credits)


In addition to the required eight MBA core courses, students take 9-12 credits in the same functional or interdisciplinary area. All electives are subject to approval by the MBA director.

Note:


Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level.

Course Fees


For students in the online MBA program, the $129 per credit hour MBA course fee will not be assessed but the distance course fee will be applied.
