Physics Major - Bachelor of Science

The physics program offers students the opportunity to explore physics both in terms of theoretical principles and experimental practices. The program features hands-on use of instrumentation as well as the rigorous application of computer-based data acquisition and analysis methods. The department supports an undergraduate research program that typically engages about 15 students each summer. The B.S. option prepares students for careers in science, computing, engineering, teaching and research

Chemical Physics Concentration (21 credits):


This program is designed for the student who wishes to pursue an advanced degree or career at the interface of physics and chemistry or in materials science.

Engineering Physics Concentration (19 credits)


This program is designed for the student who wishes to pursue an advanced degree or career in applied physics or engineering.

Professional Physics Concentration (23 credits):


This program is designed for the student who wishes to pursue an advanced degree or career as a professional physicist.

For the Physics Major at least the following courses must be taken at Indiana State University:
