(61 credits)

Required Courses:

Document Requirement:

A copy of the student’s valid and current Passport must be on file in the Aviation Department prior to the awarding of a degree.

A copy of the student’s Private and Commercial certificates and the student’s Instrument and Multi-engine ratings must be on file in the Aviation Department prior to the awarding of a degree.

Note:

  • All AVT students should be aware that the TSA sets forth specific requirements for students in aviation programs. See the Aviation Department TSA representative for information concerning these requirements.
  • All professional aviation flight technology students are encouraged to complete their CFI/CFII.
  • All professional aviation flight technology students must pass each aviation course, used in their program, with a C grade (2.0 points) or higher.
  • Once accepted and program training has begun at ISU, no student is allowed to conduct flight training at any other location, except for specific pre-approved ratings (float plane, glider, mountain). This is a hard requirement driven by University insurance issues. If any flight hours are conducted in non-ISU flight school aircraft, those hours and ratings are deemed not qualified toward an ISU degree and must be repeated. This requirement is not negotiable. This policy extends to flight time toward a flight rating over the summer months or other school breaks. The student can avoid problems in this area by utilizing only the ISU Flight Academy. Finally, parents should also be aware that this department carries accident insurance on the student with substantial additional coverage required by our flight school.
