GENERAL PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Social Science Education Program Office maintains a small collection of materials on teaching methods and the Indiana standards for licensure.
The Center for Economic Education, housed in the Department of Economics, provides up-to-date pedagogical information.
The Department of Geography, Geology, and Anthropology maintains a number of laboratories including the: Geo-Education Center which houses the Geographic Education kindergarten-12 Resource Center; the Remote Sensing-GIS-Cartography Laboratory which maintains a large data bank of imagery and maps; a Map Library with a collection of 288,000 flat maps and 300 wall maps; a Climate Laboratory which collects and distributes current and past weather and climate data; and an Anthropology Laboratory equipped with modern archaeological teaching and field research tools. The Anthropology Laboratory also displays ancient Native American artifacts discovered in digs from various sites in Indiana.
SOCIAL SCIENCE EDUCATION TRANSITION TO TEACHING PROGRAM
The Social Science Education Program supports the Transition to Teaching Program. It does not currently offer other graduate degree programs, however, the courses listed strongly support other disciplines. Students should consult with the coordinator of the Social Science Education Program or their faculty academic advisor for more information.
