Learning Outcomes
The Art Education program seeks to develop students’ capacities to become successful art educators by focusing both on general teaching and specific art education skills. Students gain a grounding in the historical, philosophical, and critical bases for viewing art and in the necessary skills, concepts, and technical proficiencies of producing art.

(ART) Core Curriculum:
The core curriculum is a prescribed program of study required of all Art majors—BFA, BA/BS, and Art Education—and is basic to a student’s choice of an area of concentration. Required courses (18 credits):

Art History Electives (3 credits):
Choose one of the following: Art Electives (3 credits):
Complete 3 credits from any 300 or 400-level course selected from the areas of studio art, art history, or graphic design. Professional Education Courses taught in the Bayh College of Education (24 credits):

This program has the following minimum GPA requirements: 2.50 overall GPA. Students who are admitted to the University in good standing and who have satisfactorily completed all prerequisites may apply for admission to the educator preparation program BCP I.
