This selective, non-degree endorsement option is designed for students who (a) have not completed a school psychology program that is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) and (b) who need to complete 24 credits or fewer to qualify for school psychology licensure through the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE).  The process for pursuing licensure through this option is as follows:

  1. Applicants for school psychology licensure who have not completed a NASP-approved program must request a transcript evaluation from IDOE.  IDOE’s evaluation will be conducted in cooperation with the Indiana Association of School Psychologists (IASP).
  2. Candidates who have received an evaluation from IDOE with any noted deficiencies must provide a copy of the evaluation as part of the application to this program. A curriculum vitae, letter of recommendation, and interview will also be required as part of the application and admissions process.
  3. Admitted students will develop an individualized program of study with the program coordinator based on the IDOE review and the application materials. Additional documentation of graduate coursework and supervised clinical experiences may be required.  In some cases, pre-requisite coursework may be required. Students who need a school psychology internship will be required to successfully complete a supervised practicum experience before being approved for internship.
  4. Upon development of a proposed program of study, the program coordinator will provide a copy to IDOE for additional review and discussion if necessary. IDOE approval of the program of study will be required before the student begins coursework.
  5. After successful completion of the approved program of study, the applicant will provide the IDOE evaluator a letter from the program coordinator and a transcript verifying completion. The applicant may then apply directly to IDOE for a school psychology license, selecting the Office of Educator Licensing and Development from the list of recommending institutions.
