Geography and Sustainability Major

Degree Map
The Geography and Sustainability program focuses on human and physical geography, including the use of geotechniques. The degree prepares students for careers in areas such as environmental consulting, emergency management planning, climatology, economic development, global studies, data management, land use planning, and environmental protection.

Core Courses (12-13 credits)
12-13 credits, must be completed by all majors. Culminating Experience (3 credits)
All majors must complete at least one of the following as a culminating experience. Electives (16-18 credits)
Students choose to be generalists (by selecting 6 courses from the Geography directed electives) or specialists (by selecting GIScience or Sustainability directed electives). Specialists must select 4 courses from their selected specialization, plus 1 from each of the other categories. Geography Directed Electives

*MATH 241 or SOC 381 or AHS 340 are approved courses for fulfilling the statistics requirement **ENVI 460 or ENVI 492 or ENVI 496 are approved courses for fulfilling the Culminating Experience requirement. This program has the following GPA requirements: 2.00 overall GPA; 2.20 in all Major course work.
