The Theater Program provides a broad and solid foundation in the artistic, intellectual, and practical aspects of theater that prepares students for professional careers as actors, playwrights, directors, and designers.

Core Requirements (29 credits):
Concentration in Acting (21 credits):
Acting Concentrators are to take 21 credits: 12 among the three-credit acting courses; 3 credits worth of courses from the list of acting practicum courses, and three credits from each of the two other concentrations. Theater Administration can substitute for any three distribution credits. Choose at least three credits from the following(Playwriting,Dramaturgy,&Direct Distrib. Courses)
Choose at least three credits from the following (Design and Technology Distribution Courses)

Please choose 3 credits of the following (up to 2 credits of dance technique below allowed): Concentration in Design and Technology (21 credits):
Design and Technology Concentrators are to take 21 credits: 12 among the three-credit design and technology courses; 3 credits worth of courses from the list of design and technology practicum courses; and six credits from among the distribution courses below, three in each of the two other concentrations. Concentration in Playwriting, Dramaturgy, and Directing (21 credits):
Playwriting, Dramaturgy, and Directing (PDD) Concentrators are to take 21 credits: 12 among the three-credit PDD courses; 3 credits worth of courses from the list of PDD practicum courses; and six credits from among the distribution courses below, three in each of the two other concentrations. Theater Administration can substitute for any three distribution credits. Choose at least three credits from the following (Design and Technology Distribution Courses)

Please choose at least 3 credits of the following:
Theater Studies Track (21 credits):
Those students who are choosing not to pursue a disciplinary concentration and prefer the Theater Studies Track, must take the 27-credit core plus 21 distribution credits (see Distribution Courses below) comprised of three-credit and practicum course credits, with at least 3 credits in TWO of the three concentrations and 6 credits in a third concentration (for a total of 12 distribution credits). That leaves 9 free credits from wherever the student chooses.
