Human Development and Family Studies Major

This interdisciplinary major provides student with course work that will prepare them for a career in the human development and/or human services field. Completion of two semesters of practicum is required. Students must maintain a 2.25 grade point average in all major course work.

(FCS) Core Curriculum:


A 7-credit core of courses is required for all majors and some minors in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The core courses promote the understanding of the integrative nature of the family and consumer sciences profession with its focus on the interrelationships among individuals, families, consumers, and communities. Students apply this understanding to the study of their areas of specialization.

Note: For several departmental curricular patterns, general education requirements in the biological and physical sciences, the social sciences, or art are specified. These courses present theoretical concepts that are developed further in courses in the Department of Family and Consumar Sciences.
