Family and Consumer Sciences (For Teacher Licensure) M.S

This program is designed for Individuals who have completed a teacher preparation program under rules 46-47; It does not lead  to an initial teaching license. Students seeking to professionalize an Indiana Standard Teaching License (Rules 46-47) should consult with Education Student Services 812-237-3131.

Additional Requirements:


An additional 18 credits in family and consumer sciences chosen from:

  1. An area of specialization in family and consumer sciences education; child development and family life; food and nutrition; or textiles, apparel, or interior design,
  2. An inter-area option comprised of courses from two or more of the above listed areas of specialization.

Culminating Experience:


  • A thesis or a comprehensive written examination, followed by an oral defense.
