Biology Minor for Pre-health Professions and Nursing

19-20 credits

The biology minor introduces students in the fundamental concepts and laboratory techniques of the biological sciences across a wide range of areas of emphasis; these, in turn, allow students to pursue a wide range of careers. Biology majors also receive practical training in field and laboratory biology, which also prepares them for academic, industrial, and governmental careers.

Required Biology Courses (12 credits):

BIO 231 - Human Anatomy 3 Credits
BIO 231L - Human Anatomy Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 241 - Human Physiology 3 Credits
BIO 241L - Human Physiology Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 274 - Introductory Microbiology 3 Credits
BIO 274L - Introductory Microbiology Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 412 - Pathophysiology 3 Credits

Required Chemistry Courses (4 credits):

Students will take one of the courses below as well as the corresponding laboratory course that satisfies prerequisites for the required Biology courses:

CHEM 100 - Chemistry and Society 3 Credits
CHEM 100L - Chemistry and Society Laboratory 1 Credits

CHEM 103 - Elementary Chemistry 3 Credits
CHEM 103L - Elementary Chemistry Laboratory 1 Credits
