Middle School Mathematics Minor

(27 credits)

This minor, in conjunction with an elementary education major, and the appropriate state licensure tests will qualify the student to be recommended for a middle school mathematics teaching license. The minor without an elementary teaching license will not satisfy requirements for teaching mathematics in middle schools. Each course requires a grade of C or better to meet Indiana licensing requirements.

MATH 131 - Calculus I 4 Credits
MATH 241 - Principles of Statistics 3 Credits
MATH 308 - Middle School Mathematics from an Advanced Perspective 3 Credits
MATH 323 - College Geometry 3 Credits
MATH 492 - History of Mathematics 3 Credits

Required Professional Education Courses (8 credits):

MATH 388 - The Teaching of Middle School Mathematics 3 Credits
CIMT 301 - Teaching IIa 2 Credits
CIMT 302 - Teaching IIb 2 Credits
Admission into BCP 1 is required prior to enrolling in CIMT 301 and 302.
