Unmanned Systems Minor

This program supports the growth, innovative development, and effective use of unmanned system technology across the respective domains (air, space, ground, and maritime) to address major challenges within the industry.

Required Courses: 18 credits


This degree studies the utilization of unmanned aerial system technology in government and multiple industries. A student completing the courses will be prepared to take the Federal Aviation Administration Remote Pilot License examination.

Document Requirement:

  • TSA has issued Title 49 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations Part 1552 that prohibits the university from providing flight training in an aircraft or aircraft simulator to non-US Citizens without TSA approval.   Prior to performing any flight training at the Academy or simulator training in ISU simulators, a copy of the student’s valid birth certificate & Government State issued ID or a passport must be on file in the Aviation Department within two weeks of beginning the program.  In addition, non-US citizens must receive TSA approval.  See the Aviation Department TSA representative for information concerning these requirements.

Note:

  • Students must pass each AVT/UMS course in the minor with a C grade or higher.
