Economics Major

(42-46 credits minimum)

Economic major helps students master economic theory and practice, as well as to analyze economic problems and evaluate public policy. The major provides students with a logical structure and careful reasoning skills. The major thus provides students with preparation for a variety of careers ranging across government, academia, and business. Students wishing to teach economics at the high school level should consider a Social Studies Education degree with economics as a concentration.

Required Economics (27 credits):

Students must complete one of the following two sets of courses:
ECON 200 - Principles of Macroeconomics 3 Credits
AND
ECON 201 - Principles of Microeconomics 3 Credits
OR
ECON 100 - Basic Economics 3 Credits
AND
ECON 210 - Economics Principles: Beyond the Basics 3 Credits
ECON 300 - Intermediate Macroeconomics 3 Credits
ECON 301 - Intermediate Microeconomics 3 Credits
ECON 321 - Money and Banking 3 Credits
ECON 351 - Survey of Labor Economics and Labor Institutions 3 Credits
