Biology Minor

(27-28 credits)

The biology minor introduces students to the fundamental concepts and laboratory techniques of the biological sciences across a wide range of areas of emphasis; these, in turn, allow students to pursue a wide range of careers. Biology minors also receive practical training in field and laboratory biology, which also prepares them for academic, industrial, and governmental careers.

Required Biological Sciences Courses (20 credits):

BIO 101 - Principles of Biology I 3 Credits
BIO 101L - Principles of Biology I Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 102 - Principles of Biology II 3 Credits
BIO 102L - Principles of Biology II Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 210 - Fundamentals of Molecular Biology 3 Credits
BIO 210L - Fundamentals of Molecular Biology Laboratory 1 Credits
Students will complete two Lecture/Laboratory Courses from the following:
BIO 330 - General Physiology 3 Credits
BIO 330L - General Physiology Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 350 - Ecology and Evolution 3 Credits
BIO 350L - Laboratory in Ecology and Evolution 1 Credits
BIO 374 - Cellular and Microbial Biology 3 Credits
BIO 374L - Cellular and Microbial Biology Laboratory 1 Credits
BIO 380 - Genetics 3 Credits
BIO 380L - Genetics Laboratory 1 Credits

Prerequisites for the Required Biology Minor (7-8 credits):

CHEM 105 - General Chemistry I 3 Credits

Select one course in statistics/calculus as listed below or other approved course as approved by advisor. (3-4 credits)
