The data science program offers students the opportunity to develop skills in statistics, programming, and machine learning. It covers data collection, analysis, and interpretation, emphasizing real-world applications. Students learn to work with large datasets, develop algorithms, and communicate findings effectively. The curriculum integrates mathematics, computer science, and domain knowledge, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities for careers in data analysis, artificial intelligence, and research across various industries.

Required Concentration


Select from Concentration in Business Analytics (18 credits), Concentration in Geographic Information Systems (17 credits), Concentration in Computer Science (10 credits), or Concentration in Bioinformatics (18 credits)

Concentration In Business Analytics (18 credits):


Students must complete the minor in Business Analytics in addition to the course(s) below. Students should work with their advisor to identify appropriate directed electives in the minor. 

Concentration in Geographic Information Science (18 credits):


Students completing the courses below and 4 elective courses (listed below) may earn a minor in Geographic Information Science in addition to the concentration in Geographic Information Science.

Concentration in Computer Science (10 credits):


Students completing the courses below may earn a minor in Computer Science in addition to the concentration in Computer Science.

Concentration in Bioinformatics (18 credits):


Students completing the courses below will earn a concentration in Bioinformatics.
