The mathematics core consists of three of the following courses (9 credits).

• MATH 531 - Complex Variables I 3 Credits
• MATH 533 - Partial Differential Equations 3 Credits
• MATH 536 - Numerical Analysis I 3 Credits
• MATH 537 - Mathematical Modeling 3 Credits
• MATH 541 - Theory of Probability 3 Credits
• MATH 542 - Mathematical Statistics 3 Credits
• MATH 612 - Commutative Algebra 3 Credits
• MATH 613 - Applied Linear Algebra 3 Credits
• MATH 625 - Dynamical Systems 3 Credits
• MATH 640 - Graph Theory 3 Credits
• MATH 646 - Linear Programming and Optimization 3 Credits

Electives:

18 credits of 500 or 600 level classes wtih the MATH prefix.

At least one-half of the credit hours must be in courses numbered 600 or above.

Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level.
