Geography & Sustainability (Accelerated M.A.)

The Geography and Sustainbility M.A. is a flexible, interdisciplinary degree that offers graduate students excellent opportunities to develop professional skills in spatial analysis, geography, and sustainability.
Students obtaining an M.A. may select either a thesis or a non-thesis option plan upon entering the graduate program. All students in the program are required to submit a thesis or its equivalent as one requirement for the degree, linked to one of two research requirement options (6 credits). Along with research work students will complete a minimum of 33 credit hours which can include a minor outside of the department. One-half of the credit hours must be taken in courses numbered 600 and above.

Research Requirement (6 credits):
Graduate students completing a thesis are required to take a minimum of 6 credits of GEOG 699. Graduate students completing the non-thesis option must complete 6 credits of GEOG 629.
Directed Electives (15 credits):
15 credits of directed electives in GEOG, ENVI, GEOL, or allied disciplines (to be determined in consultation with the student’s advisor).
