Teaching and Learning M.Ed.

(33 credits minimum)

The Master of Education Degree is designed for those individuals who wish to develop leadership skills in the areas of Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Literacy or Special Education for use in educational settings such as schools, community/technological colleges, business and industry, health services, or other social agencies.

Concentration Areas Include:

  • Assessment (K-12)
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Early Childhood (birth to age 8)
  • Elementary Education (K-5)
  • Gifted and Talented
  • Literacy K-12
  • Special Education (Program follows specialized Program of Study-Consult with Academic Advisor)

 

Core Area Studies in Professional Education (15 credits)


Studies in the following core areas of professional education must be included:

Assessment (K-12)


Special Education


Program follows a specialized Program of Study - Consult wit Academic Advisor

Gifted and Talented Concentration (15 credits)


In consultation with an advisor, select 15 credits from:

Electives (6 credits)


Courses are to be chosen in consultation with the academic advisor. Note: Those considering adding gifted and talented to an existing Indiana teaching license should contact Education Student Services before applying to the program. Culminating Experience Requirement (3 credits):


Students must satisfactorily complete a culminating experience in the last 12 credits of the degree program in Teaching and Learning. The core area studies in professional education requirements of this degree are prerequisite to the culminating experience requirement.

Professionalizing a license:

Addition of subject license to existing teaching license:


Individuals who wish to add an additional subject license to the developmental/school setting license at which they are already licensed must contact the academic department.
