The Social Welfare and Justice minor provides an introduction to the fields of social welfare in the United States, an examination of the structure of social welfare systems vis a vis the government and the market economy, and an understanding of the relationship between social welfare fields and race, social class, gender, sexuality, and other related characteristics. It also includes an optional internship component where students spend a semester in the field of a social welfare agency or organization in the community.
