Physics Minor

The physics minor offers students the opportunity to explore physics both in terms of theoretical principles and experimental practices.

Required Physics:

PHYS 115 - University Physics I 4 Credits
PHYS 115L - University Physics I Laboratory 1 Credits
PHYS 116 - University Physics II 4 Credits
PHYS 116L - University Physics II Laboratory 1 Credits
PHYS 306 - Applied Physics Laboratory 2 Credits
PHYS 307 - Physics as a Creative Process 2 Credits
PHYS 308 - Modern Physics 3 Credits
PHYS 308L - Modern Physics Laboratory 1 Credits

Choose one from the following:

PHYS 309 - Statics 3 Credits
PHYS 310 - Analytical Mechanics 3 Credits
PHYS 341 - Electricity and Magnetism 3 Credits
PHYS 420 - Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics 3 Credits
PHYS 497 - Quantum Mechanics 3 Credits

Required Mathematics:

MATH 131 - Calculus I 4 Credits
MATH 132 - Calculus II 4 Credits

Note:

For the Physics Minor at least the following must be taken at Indiana State University:

3-4 credits from PHYS lecture or laboratory courses at the 3- or 400-level (with the exception of PHYS 360, 321, 322)

The Physics Minor is not available to students who have declared the Physics Major.
