Learning Outcomes  

Provides a broad understanding of the functions and responsibilities of a manager or supervisor in a variety of related aviation ground positions. 

*Flight training is not required, however obtaining a Private Pilot Certificate is encouraged. 

Required Courses (49 credits)

Aviation Basic Core Courses (27 credits):

Must take at least 3 credits of AVT 473

Aviation Management Core Courses (22 credits):

At least 3 credit hours of AVT 471 must be completed.

University Minor (15 credits minimum):

All Aviation Management majors must complete one of the following ISU minors:

Accounting
Business Administration
Business Analytics
Communications
Economics
Entrepreneurships
Finance
Financial Services
Information Processing
Insurance Risk Management
Legal Studies
Management Information Systems
Marketing
Military Leadership
Public Administration
Safety Management
Sales and Negotiations

Document Requirement:

Document Requirement:

  • TSA has issued Title 49 of the United States Code of Federal Regulations Part 1552 that prohibits the university from providing flight training in an aircraft or aircraft simulator to non-US Citizens without TSA approval.   Prior to performing any flight training at the Academy or simulator training in ISU simulators, a copy of the student’s valid birth certificate & Government State issued ID or a passport must be on file in the Aviation Department within two weeks of beginning the program.  In addition, non-US citizens must receive TSA approval.  See the Aviation Department TSA representative for information concerning these requirements.

Notes:

  • All students must pass each AVT/UMS course used in their major with a C grade or higher.  The “C” grade rule does not apply to the second major or minor, unless it’s one offered by the aviation department.
  • All aviation management students are encouraged to complete their Private Pilot Certificate.

All AVT students should be aware that the TSA sets forth specific requirements for students in aviation programs. See the Aviation Department TSA representative for information concerning these requirements; All Aviation Management students must pass each aviation course used in their degree with a C grade (2.0) or higher; A copy of the student’s valid and current Passport must be on file in the Aviation Department prior to the awarding of a degree; All Aviation Management students are encouraged to complete their Private Pilot certificate.
