Health and medicine are not just technical or narrowly scientific exercises; they are also humanistic, social, cultural, and historical practices. Practitioners, and especially leaders, in the rapidly growing health care industry need to understand how health care and medical practice interact with lived experience and the resulting ethical, normative, cultural, economic, global, and social contexts that affect the health and medicine fields. This minor will provide students with a substantive overview of the intersection of the liberal arts, the social and behavioral sciences, and healthcare and medicine.
