Curriculum and Instruction M.Ed.

(33 credits minimum)

The Master of Education Degree—Curriculum and Instruction is designed for those individuals who wish to develop leadership skills in instruction and curriculum planning in educational settings such as schools, community/technical colleges, business and industry, health services, and other social agencies.

Note: Students are considered for admission if they hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all courses taken at the graduate level in all schools attended, and have a minimum of 12 credit hours in the behavioral sciences (e.g., psychology, sociology, political science, and anthropology) at the undergraduate level. The graduate faculty of the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology determines any deficiencies based upon candidate’s prior experience, educational background, and professional goals. International applicants should have a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of at least 79 (iBT) with subscores of at least 21 for Reading, 16 for Listening, 18 for Speaking, and 24 for writing.

Professionalizing a license:

Addition of subject license to existing teaching license:


Individuals who wish to add an additional subject license to the developmental/school setting license at which they are already licensed must contact the academic department.

Culminating Experience Requirement (3 credits):


Students must satisfactorily complete a culminating experience in the last 12 credits of the degree program in curriculum, instruction, and media technology. The core area studies in professional education requirements of this degree are prerequisite to the culminating experience requirement.
