Visual Impairment: Non-degree License Program for Exceptional Needs

Students who have completed an undergraduate program and hold or are eligible to hold an Indiana teaching license and meet the prerequisite requirements for entering the visual impairment non-degree license program will be eligible to enroll. Students’ undergraduate grade point average for the final two years of the program must be at least a 3.25.

Students must complete, either as part of the master’s degree or as part of the Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree License Program, the following courses:

Requirements:

SPED 651 - The Eye, Its Functions and Health 3 credits
SPED 652 - Programs and Services for Individuals with Visual Impairments 3 credits
SPED 653 - Communication Skills for Individuals with Visual Impairments 3 credits
SPED 654 - Instructional Accommodations for Individuals with Visual Impairment 3 credits
SPED 655 - Principles of Orientation and Mobility 3 credits
SPED 656 - Practicum in Teaching Students with Visual Impairment 3 credits

Note:

Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level.
