This certificate meets requirements for licensure in Indiana in combination with an existing teaching license. It is also appropriate for students wishing to teach English abroad in settings that do not require licensure.

Applied Experience Requirements:
This requirement is fulfilled by one of the following:
- Two years study (or equivalent fluency) of a language that is not the student’s native language
- Experience living in a culture that is not the student’s native culture (three months minimum)
- ESL/EFL teaching or cross-cultural experience (three months minimum)
Note:
Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level. |
