(57 credits minimum)
Completion of the M.A. or M.S. in speech-language pathology (institutional and agency settings) prepares the student to work in non-educational settings, such as hospitals,rehabilitation centers, ENT clinics, and private practice. The program meets the standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Certificate of Clinical Competence and the Indiana Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board.
Admission Requirements
Each applicant must satisfy the general criteria for admission to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies and two of the following requirements:
- Have an undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 point scale.
- Attain a minimum score of 450 on each section of the General Tests of the Graduate Record Examinations. (See GRE or GMAT section of this Catalog concerning admission.)
- Have a grade point average of 3.25 on at least nine hours of graduate work.
Additional Admission Standards
A bachelor’s degree in communication disorders or the equivalent.
If there are deficiencies in students’ undergraduate programs, they will be required to take such courses either as prerequisites to entering the program or as additional requirements to the program.

All students are required to pass a final comprehensive examination. Notes:
Students seeking the master of arts must complete Communication Disorders 699—6 credits.
Six of the required 57 credits must be from related areas outside the area of communication disorders as approved by the advisor. Note:
Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level. |
