International Business Concentration in College of Arts and Science and College of Business

Required Courses (maximum 43 credits*):

(Students must complete all requirements for the baccalaureate degree with a major in the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Business. All courses taken in fulfillment of the bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree, or the General Education Program, may also be counted toward the international business concentration.)

Global Studies:

• ECON 341 - International Economics 3 credits
• ENVI 130 - World Cultures and Environments 3 credits
• HIST 102 - Studies in World Civilization since 1500 3 credits
• IS 301 - World Problems Since 1945 3 credits

Foreign Languages:

8 crdits beyond the introductory 100‑level foreign language courses pertinent to the geographic regional concentration of study. Should include French, German, Italian, Russian, or Spanish (or another appropriate language as available or approved) 201 or higher and at least 5 credits from: 202—3 credits; plus either 303 or 311—3 credits or a 300‑level business language course (3 credits.)

International Business:

• FIN 400 - International Financial Management 3 credits
• MGT 320 - International Business 3 credits
• MKTG 414 - International Marketing 3 credits

Internship:

(or approved alternative) 3 credits. Prerequisites: junior standing and approval of International Business Concentration Advisory Committee.

Capstone course:

• 3 credits. Prerequisites: senior standing and approval of the instructor.

Electives (6 credits):

International Studies electives:

• 6 credits of regional study to be selected from an approved list
  (see current regional concentration list of the international studies minor).

Additional Requirements:

In addition students in the College of Arts and Sciences must complete the following core with a GPA of 2.25 or higher:

• BUS 311 - Business Finance 3 credits
• BUS 361 - Principles of Marketing 3 credits

• ECON 200 - Principles of Macroeconomics 3 credits
• ECON 201 - Principles of Microeconomics 3 credits
• MATH 201 - Finite Mathematics 3 credits
• MATH 301 - Fundamentals and Applications of Calculus 3 credits
• MIS 276 - Business Information Processing Systems 3 credits

Note:

*These credit hour maximums may be reduced depending on the student’s major, General Education courses taken, and the student’s previous preparation in foreign languages and mathematics.
