Science Education (with thesis) for Licensed Teachers M.S.

This program is designed for individuals who have completed a teacher preparation program; it does not lead to an initial teaching license.

Research:
Candidates for the M.S. degree with a thesis must complete 6 credits of 699 in an area approved by the faculty advisor. Major:
Complete a minimum of 17 credits of science credit as approved by the departmental advisor, who will plan each individual program in consultation with the student. Particular attention will be given to teacher licensure requirements, to courses dealing with the teaching of science, and to the strengths and weaknesses in the student’s science background. Normally, 6 credits in the major (primary) area and 9 credits in the minor (supporting) area are required. Choose one from the following:

0-3 credits of directed electives for completion of the required minimum credits for the M.S. degree. Culminating Experience:
Successful thesis defense conducted by the candidate’s thesis committee. Note:
Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level. |
