The M.Ed. in school psychology is a requirement en route to the educational specialist (Ed.S.) in school psychology or the doctor of philosophy in guidance and psychological services with specialization in school psychology. This M.Ed. does not qualify an individual for licensure in school psychology. Students are admitted with the expectation that they will apply to the Ed.S. or Ph.D. program upon completion of the M.Ed.
Admission Requirements
In addition to the general criteria for admission to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, the following requirements must be satisfied:
- Have an undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 point scale.
- Attain a minimum score of 450 on each section of the General Tests of the Graduate Record Examinations. (See GRE or GMAT section of this Catalog concerning admission.)
- Have a grade point average of 3.25 on at least nine hours of graduate work.
- Submit three letters of recommendation.
- Submit a personal statement describing educational and career goals.
Students with strong credentials may be considered for admission even if one of 1, 2, or 3 is slightly below the standard. Admission requires the approval of the departmental admissions committee.
It should not be assumed that meeting minimal standards guarantees admission to the program.
Progress Toward the Degree
Students seeking to complete this master’s degree program must maintain an average of 3.25 or above in all graduate work.

During the last 12 credit hours of the program, the student will submit a professional project for approval by the training director. Note:
Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level. |
