Research:

• MATH 695 - Mathematics Research 3-6 credits

Major:

18 credits of courses in mathematics, including:

• MATH 530 - Real Variables I 3 credits
• MATH 531 - Complex Variables I 3 credits
• MATH 616 - Algebra I 3 credits
• MATH 617 - Algebra II 3 credits

Electives:

• 11 credits approved by the department.

Culminating Experience:

Successful completion of an oral examination on the student’s research paper administered by the student’s graduate faculty committee.

Note:

At least one-half of the credit hours must be in courses numbered 600 or above.

Note:

Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level.
