(32 credits minimum)
The master of arts is a non-terminal, preprofessional graduate degree, recognized by NASAD and CAA. Contact the Department of Art for the policies and procedures for the M.A. degree. Options for studio concentrations include: ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and sculpture-wood/studio furniture.

Major:
- 18 graduate credits in art approved by the student’s advisor.
Other Requirements:
6 graduate credits taken outside of the department; an initial review of the student’s creative development is required after the completion of 12 credit hours and no later than the completion of 15 credit hours; a mid-point review is required after the completion of 20 credits. These reviews are conducted and evaluated by the student’s advisory committee. Electives:
- 5 graduate credits of course work approved by the student’s advisor.
Culminating Experience:
The master of arts course of study culminates in a research paper, creative presentation, or final visual project. Note:
A minimum of one-half of all credit hours must be taken in courses numbered 600 or higher. Note:
Courses in the 500 series are open to undergraduates as *400 series. Graduate students are required to do additional work of a research nature. A course taken at the 400 level may not be repeated at the 500 level. |
