The College of Education is the official teacher education agency of the University. The faculty of the College of Education is responsible for the content, structure, and design of all curricula and field experiences and for preparing professional education personnel for entry and advanced positions in teaching, administration, counseling, and other human service professions in both school and non-school settings. The range of responsibility includes pre-service, in-service, and continuing education of those who plan, lead, implement, and evaluate learning environments.
A variety of graduate programs in education and for institutional/agency settings are offered in the College of Education. Graduate degrees ranging from the master’s through the doctor of philosophy degree are offered, as well as several non-degree graduate programs. The graduate programs and the licensure requirements for the various Indiana administration, teaching, and school services personnel licenses are included in this section.
The graduate programs for teachers, school service personnel, and administrators are accredited by the Department of Professional Standards of the Indiana Department of Education and accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. The speech-language pathology programs are accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The school counseling and mental health counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Counseling Related Educational Programs. The school psychology programs are accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists. The doctor of philosophy programs in guidance and psychological services with specializations in school psychology and in counseling psychology are accredited by the American Psychological Association.

LICENSURE REGULATIONS
Because initial and renewal of licensure for teachers, administrators, or school services personnel are always subject to change, interested individuals are encouraged to consult Education Student Services in the College of Education before pursuing a program.
Initial Practitioner License: Students wishing to obtain initial teacher licensure at the graduate level should consult the appropriate section of the Catalog dealing with Post-Baccalaureate Non-Degree Licensure for Elementary or Secondary Teachers (Department of Elementary, Early, and Special Education or Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Media Technology).
