The Department of Electronics, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering Technology offers baccalaureate degree programs in automation and control engineering technology, automotive technology management, computer engineering technology, electronics technology, and mechanical engineering technology. It also collaborates with the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business to offer a baccalaureate degree in Information Technology. A two-year associate of science degree in electronics and computer technology is also offered. Additional department offerings include minors in automotive technology, electronics technology, computer aided design and drafting, and computer hardware technology.

The department has a group of experienced and professional faculty members that strive to provide a relevant education through the utilization of up-to-date laboratories. The educational environment, competent staff, and modern laboratories produce graduates who can compete successfully in the many and varied professional careers available in electronics, computers, mechanical design and manufacturing, automotive systems, robotics, information technology, and other challenging fields.

Courses offered in the department combine technical laboratory instruction with academic study, which affords students practice and experiences commensurate with modern industry. Laboratory-centered courses are also provided for other majors within the College of Technology and are open as electives to individuals outside the College of Technology.

Many programs in the department have developed articulation agreements with two-year colleges (e.g. Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University) and accept transfer students though an evaluation process. The department also offers a baccalaureate degree-completion program in electronics technology to students in the University’s DegreeLink Program. DegreeLink, an extended access, degree-completion program, enables students who have earned credit hours and associate degrees from accredited collegiate institutions to transfer credit hours, as a block or on a course-by-course basis, to baccalaureate degree programs. The remainder of the degree is completed through distance course offerings. See the DegreeLink Program description in this Catalog.
